There's a very good blog about RL and its' future if you click the below link ...

The Sport Report Blog

Whether you agree with his opinions or not, it's a good read and gives a completely different view to the one 'spun' by Sky and the RFL.

"I’m a big advocate for having a team in Super League from Cumbria. I’m a big fan of Barrow and a big fan of Cumbrian rugby league. They turn out some great players and with the history of the place, they deserve to have a team in Super League.”

A very depressing summary of the state of rugby league, and in many cases you can't disagree with what is said.

It is at the same time both refreshing and depressing to read an excelent article by somebody who shares my opinions on the state of Rugby League in this country.

Brilliantly written article and very true. I think it was written by Keith Nutter. LOL.

I still love watching the game and Raiders in particular. I have a season ticket and hopefully won't miss many games home or away. Unfortunately I'm very much in the minority as is shown by last seasons NL gates. I think the reasons that I am in the minority are very well put in the article. I wonder if our lords and masters at RFL have seen it.

I think total gates were much lower when Schofield was in his prime

I think you are maybe correct Alan (though Schofield was at his prime for a decade so difficult to analyse). However, TV viewing figures were probably 80 times higher back then so we can all use whatever statistics we choose really.
