Simple little competition here to start us off:

Just name the four players pictured-

Posted by: barney Nov 20 2005, 03:00 PM

dry.gif I can see Wally Lewis also someones arm but thats it, are the others midgits or am i looking at the wrong picture

biggrin.gif Hang on there they are now ; Wally Lewis, Mal Meninga, Brett Kimorley[maybe], dont know the other yet unsure.gif

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 20 2005, 03:04 PM

You're too quick off the mark there Barney, mate...serves you right.
3 out of four isn't bad - but it doesn't win you the prize! biggrin.gif

Posted by: shadow grinder Nov 21 2005, 07:06 AM

it would be from left to right

dally messenger, wally lewis, mal meninga and brett 'noddy' kimmorley biggrin.gif

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 21 2005, 09:40 AM

4 out 4 there sg, quite good. biggrin.gif
Yes Barney had got the other three. Dally 'M' was the hardest, especially for non-aussies among us.
I don't know a great deal about him, apart from the awards named after him - so he must have been a good 'un.
Here's your prize - you win the coconut (picture!) laugh.gif

The Master

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 21 2005, 10:06 AM

Right then, who's this?

Posted by: kiwityke Nov 21 2005, 10:05 PM

First guess Tony Martin

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 22 2005, 09:38 AM

No, it's not him.

Tood Byrne? No.

Clue 1 -

This player has played at lock as well as centre for Warriors, and is now classified as a utility forward.

Clue 2 -

Born in Auckland, New Zealand

Clue 3 -

Here's a front view in action.

Posted by: kiwityke Nov 24 2005, 06:10 PM

I'll try my original third choice. Simon Mannering?

Posted by: kiwityke Nov 24 2005, 06:28 PM

No. The fella whose brother plays for St Helens. Louis Anderson.

Brothers often look alike, and these two do!

Must be Vinnie!

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 26 2005, 10:12 AM

The coconut is yours, kiwityke! smile.gif

The original photo was taken in the Round 21 NRL match in 2003 when the Warriors were playing who else but the Storm - you can see the guy in the Melbourne shorts top left.

Vinnie Anderson

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 26 2005, 10:37 AM

To wrestle the coconut off kiwityke if you can, who is this then?

Posted by: kiwityke Nov 27 2005, 10:26 PM

As they say in pantomime - Oh yes you are!

You got the right one there NRLaddict05
kiwityke was correct that he's a Rooster.

It's Craig Fitzgibbon. The picture which I cropped was from a newspaper article. The match was one in which Fitzgibbon was injured in a 42nd minute tackle by Tony Butterfield (Newcastle) who was put on report for it. Craig played on ignoring a suspected broken jaw. He kicked Roosters to a last second victory. Brave indeed!

Craig Fitzgibbon

Here's your prize NRLaddict05 :

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 28 2005, 10:35 AM

In this photo I'd like the name of the tackler.

Who is the guy Andrew Ryan is fending off?

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 29 2005, 07:54 PM

Ryan Cross - rebuilt his career after leg injuries.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 29 2005, 08:46 PM

Ah well here's another player to identify:

Who's being tackled?

Posted by: kiwityke Nov 30 2005, 04:54 AM

I'll try Clinton Toopi again.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 30 2005, 09:22 AM

Toopi or not Toopi , that is the question ...

...

But what's the answer?

No, it's not Clinton.

No, it's not Manu Vatuvei

It's not me in that other picture, this is me in this picture, hard luck.

Posted by: EAGLEBLADE Nov 30 2005, 02:46 PM

I'm haveing another go my first choice was Kidwell but then i changed my mind to Vatavi or whatever his name is.

KIDWELL

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Nov 30 2005, 08:29 PM

David Kidwell, of Melbourne Storm and New Zealand?

...

...

No, it's not David Kidwell

David Kidwell - it's not him.

No, it's not Lance Hard luck NRLaddict05.

Right think it's time for a little clue:

His middle name is Rangi

Posted by: Nrl_addict05 Dec 1 2005, 07:40 PM

I doubt this is him coz its in his first name and he played in 2004...
But

Wairangi Koopu

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 1 2005, 09:04 PM

Mmm, back in time a little bit eh? You might be on the right track there.
Rangi is a separate middle name by the way, and the guy in question doesn't normally use it.

As you've probably guessed you aren't right ... yet ...

So sorry you get the

Posted by: Nrl_addict05 Dec 2 2005, 11:22 PM

Posted by: Nrl_addict05 Dec 3 2005, 09:15 AM

I think we need another person this one just aint working for us.... next

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 3 2005, 10:43 AM

The bloke in the picture now plays the other code of rugby in England and has a brother still in League here in England.

I think that should help a lot.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 3 2005, 06:25 PM

Henry Paul

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 3 2005, 08:13 PM

That's Henry Rangi Paul ...

... that was a tricky one!

Correct!
Yes Henry Paul when he had more sense and played League. His brother Robbie is a nice bloke - he signed autographs for my family and was very friendly..

Well done then kiwityke - here's the prize:

Henry and Robbie Paul - two terrific rugby players from one family.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 3 2005, 08:26 PM

Here's the next one then:

(i) What do all these guys have in common apart from being in the same Blues squad?
(ii) Name as many as you can, left to right, one to six.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 4 2005, 01:14 AM

Not a clue. I'll leave this one to the Oz addicts.
Good luck!

Posted by: Nrl_addict05 Dec 4 2005, 03:34 AM

They are all st george illawarra dragon players well now only 5 do....

Mark gasnier
Matt cooper
Jason Ryles
Shaun Timmins
Brent kite((now plays for manly left dragons in 04)
Trent Barrett

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 4 2005, 11:05 AM

Correct!
You hit it in one there NrlAddict05. The photograph was taken in 2004. At that time all six were St George-Illawarra players and were involved in the Origin decider match.
Since then as you rightly say, Brent Kite transferred away to Manly for 2005.
Game 3 was held at Telstra Stadium where NSW beat Qld 36 - 14 in front of 82,487 people!

Well done then Nrladdict05 - here's your prize:

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 4 2005, 11:40 AM

Here's another for you.
It is back a few years, but here is some action between Australia and New Zealand in a big match.

Just name all three players.

I've speckled this one, but not too much!

Posted by: Nrl_addict05 Dec 5 2005, 10:34 AM

i got no idea sad.gif

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 5 2005, 10:42 AM

Here's a clearer view then:

OK it was 5 years ago, but the players look clear enough on the right (now)and played together in the same team for a few years. The one on the left shouldn't be too tricky.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 5 2005, 08:50 PM

Jones, Kearney and another Storm player

Posted by: i H8 saints Dec 5 2005, 09:03 PM

jones, kearney & the other storm player is scott hill

Scott Hill tackled
Stephen Kearney tackling
Stacey Jones looking on

This picture was taken in the last World Cup Final on 25th November 2000 at Old Trafford, Manchester in front of a crowd of 44,329.
It was a close match in the first half which finished 6-0 to Australia. The Aussies had a second half scoring spree and ended up winning 44-12.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 7 2005, 03:29 PM

I wondered if you could name this chap? ... no not the one standing up, the one on the floor clutching his chest.
It could be tricky so I'll start with a clue:
He's got a tatoo on each of his biceps - Cobe on one and Indee on the other - they are his childrens' names.
He's also a qualified diesel engineer and a classy player.

You'll really deserve your coconut if you can get him!

Spot on!:

It's Clinton Schifcofske in Round 7 last season - remember Storm went to Canberra Stadium and just beat them - Raiders 10 - 46 Storm.

On that day Schif score 6 of their points with a try and a conversion.
We scored a hatful! I seem to remember Jake Webster played and got a try - might be wrong there.

I've not done your award yet - I'll get on to it soon! I've been working on the next piccy.

I've done one already ...

Sonny Bill?

Second Bulldog
Anasta

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 11 2005, 12:54 PM

so were either of your two attempts successful?

Sonny Bill or Anasta?

Second one first:

Braith Anasta - your 'was' man I guess -

well ...

Now your first attempt - Sonny Bill Williams - mmm you can't have been that confident as you followed it up with another ...

well ...

erm ...

amazingly, given the picture and my devious treatment of it ...

you're ...

RIGHT!

It's Sonny Bill Williams who is a Canterbury Bulldog.

Here's the original photo with the colours restored to natural and without the special effects.
The tattoo might have helped identify him if you could have seen it.
That's a weird and unpleasant method of tackling by the bloke grabbing him by the chops.
I'll resist the temptation to ask who the tackler was! biggrin.gif

A good start there i H8 saints. "the tigers player is definitely pat richards" - Correct!
Here's your well deserved coconut:

The Dragons player isn't Timmins or Young - there that narrows it down a bit. smile.gif

So Pat Richards on the right, but which Dragon player has he flung to the left?

Pat Richards scored 20 tries in Season 2005 for Wests Tigers.

Here's the original photograph:

Mark Gasnier flung into touch by Pat Richards in Round 3 of the play-offs, Dragons v Tigers, 24th September 2005

Maybe it was the movement of the player that blurred it enough to make it tricky to spot him, or maybe the way his hair looks darker in the picture.

It's great you got him.
Hard luck with him i H8 saints, you went all round him and were closest when naming his Centre team-mate Matt Cooper. What a great pairing that is for any club.

Here's your prize kiwityke:

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 13 2005, 10:20 AM

Let's try this one then:

Just name the four players left to right, one to four.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 13 2005, 06:02 PM

1. Minichello
2. Civeroceva(spelling wrong, I know)
3. Whatuira

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 13 2005, 06:28 PM

Two out of three right there, kiwityke.

Here's a reminder of the currrent picture quiz:
Just name the four players left to right, one to four.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 13 2005, 07:21 PM

My first guesses were 1 and 3. 2 was added as a wild one.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 13 2005, 07:33 PM

1 Aussie
2 Aussie
3 Kiwi
4 Kiwi

Put it this way kiwityke, your Aussie ones are the best of your efforts so far. smile.gif
It's the Kiwis you need to look at.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 13 2005, 10:39 PM

3. Kidwell
4. Vagana

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 14 2005, 09:22 AM

Just number 3 to sort out now.
It was him that had scored the try.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 14 2005, 06:14 PM

Brent Webb
If not I need a clue as to which match.
Do I need another clue?

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 14 2005, 06:23 PM

You do need another clue.

The game was in the 2004 Tri Nations match - 16th October, at the North Harbour Stadium.
He's a forward.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 14 2005, 07:17 PM

Louie Anderson

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 14 2005, 09:48 PM

So let's pull this answer together in a recap:

1. Anthony Minichiello
2. Petero Civoniceva
3. Louis Anderson
4. Nigel Vagana

16th October 2004 Tri Nations match, NZ v Aus at Nth Harbour Stadium, Albany.
It was the opening match of the series which ended 16-16. There was some drizzle during the match.
In the picture these four were waiting for the result of the video ref. The try was awarded to Louis Anderson.
In the same match Minichiello scored two tries.
It was only the second time the two nations had played out a drawn match.
Here's the picture before I scrambled it:

That clears matters up then! biggrin.gif

Here's your prize then, kiwityke:

Enjoy! wink.gif

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 14 2005, 10:07 PM

Can anybody work out who either of these two fellas are?

Posted by: Nrl_addict05 Dec 19 2005, 08:55 AM

Craig Wing

Kris Kahler?? Im not sure

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 19 2005, 09:16 AM

Right!

You may not be sure, but you've correctly spotted Craig Wing there, well done.
Here's that prize that money can't buy:

Enjoy!

Clue:
The Canberra player left Australia to sign for London Broncos in November 2004. This photo was taken on 12th September 2004 ... mm I wonder who that can be?

For the record Wingy was born in Sydney 26/12/79 - a late Christmas present! He played for Souths (98/98).
To help with identifying the number 17 I'll post the original picture:

What a terrific photograph.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 19 2005, 06:15 PM

Mark McLinden

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 20 2005, 09:45 AM

He's the very man, well worked out.
Yes Mark McLinden. Canberra was his hometown club.

Here's your early Christmas coconut!

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 20 2005, 11:03 AM

Entering into the Christmas season, can you name this Santa lookalike?

Ho Ho wHO am I?

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 20 2005, 08:01 PM

A wild guess.
Crag FitzGibbon

A question for GLD. Is the nodding head really you? (Shaking one too!)

Crag FitzGibbon

A question for GLD. Is the nodding head really you? (Shaking one too!)

I'll answer your second point first - you mean the smart good looking guy with the pleasant smile?

- er ... no, sadly

I can smile quite well though. biggrin.gif

The nodding and shaking heads are ones I made from an animated head which sort of circled - I divided it into a nod and a shake!

Now on to your second point:

Craig Fitzgibbon you say?

(Not GLD, but similar - two eyes, a nose etc ...)

Well, for a wild guess you've done really well.
Yes, it is Craig.

I widened the face with the bushy beard, but you saw through that ploy!

Another early Christmas present for you then kiwityke:

As you can see from the original picture this is quite an old picture. He played for St George Illawarra in 1999.
He was born 16th June 1977 at a place where lots of good people come from: Wollongong!
Junior club: Dapto

Here's Craig in a Roosters jersey:

But ...

...

guess what ...

again...

Jake Webster you say?

...

you got nothing?

...

Oh yes you have

because despite the fact that it was a small picture to start with and I'd disguised him heavily ...

you are:

Right! laugh.gif

Here's a snowy version of the elf I decided not to use in the comp and here's Jake in a serious mood and unmasked:

I know what you mean about the picture as well - It's like having a clown in make up with a serious face underneath a smile - unnerving!
Can you imagine him like that waiting for you in Santa's grotto - the children would be running out screaming before they even met Santa!
Cheer up Jake you've had a superb year and it's nearly Christmas! biggrin.gif
What a talented guy, and what a great club he's signed to! cool.gif

If it refers to your correct Jake Webster. Congratulations. You beat me on that one.

Nah it wasnt on your teeth question it was for getting the Jake Webster question right. I have absolutely no idea how i guessed it correctly. Maybe the eyes?? unsure.gif

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 23 2005, 01:45 PM

The teeth are real as far as I know. Having said that this exceptional guy's well past his playing days now, so I can't be 100% sure! The snowy upper lip conceals face fungus.
I'm sorry if it breaks the illusion, but the nose is false. wink.gif

Wally "the referee" Lewis

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 24 2005, 11:43 AM

Yes indeedy!
It's Wally Lewis.

I saw the bloke play club rugby when Featherstone played Wakefield Trinity during his time with them.
He was the man who made the difference. He could control a game, and badger a ref. All the same it was an honour to see the bloke.

Here's the picture I altered alongside Frosty the Snowman:

Wally Lewis looking happy with his teeth!
Great player!

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 24 2005, 12:33 PM

There's not too much to go on here with this Rudolf picture of mine, but I reckon it'll not be too difficult to name the bloke.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 24 2005, 11:06 PM

Looks like the little general to me. The fellow who has more international come backs than anyone else.
Stacey Jones

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 25 2005, 05:05 PM

Good guess, but amazingly:

No, it's not Stacey!

It's a big man of Australian RL.
He puts grrr in the word 'great'.
Look at the eyebrows...

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 25 2005, 05:55 PM

Ok. I'll try my first thought. (before I came to Stacey)
Mal Meninga

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 25 2005, 06:41 PM

mm, Mal Meninga?

...

It sure is!
Mal's about 45 now.
It's a wonder he's still not playing.
As it was his Test career spanned 13 seasons!
Other than that he played with Souths, Brisbane, Saint Helens, Canberra and Queensland.
What a player!

Enjoy your Christmas Day coconut.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 25 2005, 07:20 PM

I'm not sure whether this is clear enough but I'll try the bloke on you.
I've a static version which has a slightly clearer face.
Still you'll probably guess him all the same.
In keeping with the last few picture puzzles this isn't a current player either.

No luck with this guy then?

Clue - he is a Kiwi with a wife from North Yorkshire.

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 28 2005, 06:39 AM

No can't get it.
Kiwi as in former Kiwi international or Kiwi as in New Zealander?

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Dec 28 2005, 02:26 PM

Clue 2
Kiwi as in coach of club in England, Australia, Origin and NZ

Posted by: kiwityke Dec 28 2005, 06:09 PM

There's only one response to that then:

It's Graham Lowe, the man who's been speaking to the media in the last week or so re the Aussie coach.

Graham Lowe the Kiwi who is a former Wigan, Manly, Queensland and New Zealand coach.
His wife was born in the best county in England: Yorkshire!

I expect the bottle gave it away, but I did put the chest of a Panthers jersey on the nappy - the logo can just be made out on the right.

He's the man in the news at the moment so I thought it only fitting he made an appearance in our game.

Here's my picture and the original photo that provided the face.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 3 2006, 08:28 PM

That's correct, Ryan McGoldrick the guy who's a Tiger for next season - presumably Wests but Cas thought they'd got him.

You're the cat's whiskers kiwityke.

Here's your prrrrrrrrrrize:

Here's the original picture I worked on:

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 3 2006, 09:05 PM

This bloke is no clown, except in this disguise I've given him:

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 3 2006, 09:49 PM

Bluey! The eyes have it!

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 4 2006, 09:44 AM

Bluey - Brian McClennan?

...

...

this guy?

...

Bluey McClennan.

...

Good guess, but

No it's not him.

As there's not that much to go on in this one apart from the eyes, I'll give a clue straight away.
This bloke was a long time Tiger, proud to be their captain, but an elbow injury kept him out a while and he lost the captaincy. He has now moved on and is earning pounds (not dollars) in Yorkshire.

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 5 2006, 01:36 AM

A long shot.
Mark O'Neill. I know he played for West Tigers but can't recall the rest.
He does play for Leeds Rhinos so fits the Yorkshire criterion

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 5 2006, 12:59 PM

It shows a long shot is worth taking:

It is Mark O'Neill long time servant at Wests Tigers who had a nasty elbow injury which kept him out of the team for a long time last season. It lost him his captaincy. As you rightly said kiwityke he has moved on to Leeds Rhinos but has been unlucky again. He damaged his shoulder in the Boxing Day match against Wakefield. He's likely to have an operation and may miss the start of the Super League season.

Mark O'Neill he's certainly no clown.

Well done kiwityke

I'm pushing the boundaries today.
I'm sorry if the image is a little small.
I'll try to make the the next one bigger.

As usual I ask you to say who this is.
The twist this time is that I have taken parts of three players' faces and made the into one handsome guy.

So:

Give me the names of the three NRL blokes' faces I have used - if you can!

Posted by: thurston090694 Jan 6 2006, 03:56 AM

i am a new member but i am gonna take a stab at it.
1. matty king from melbourne
2. minichello from roosters (check out my entry : Does minichello deserve the golden boot?)
annnnnnnnndddddddd.......
3. hmmmmmmm.......... steve price or another warriors player
?????????????

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 6 2006, 12:17 PM

Well bits of coconut are flying around but we haven't yet got all three bits.

Yes EagleBlade, kiwityke ( I guess you agreed with EB's first two choices) and Thurston090694 (welcome) -

It is
1. Matt King's old hair ( biggrin.gif ), and
2. Minichiello's eyes and nose.

The chin man is still eluding you all so far:

It's not Ruebin Wiki (KT) it's not Steve Price (Th)
but as Thurston090694 suggests, it is another Warriors player with the 7 o'clock shadow kiwityke mentions.

So which Warriors chin is it?

Posted by: EAGLEBLADE Jan 6 2006, 06:07 PM

Brent webb smile.gif

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 6 2006, 06:19 PM

Richard (The Gorilla) Villasanti.

So it's not Brent Webb or Richard (The Gorilla) Villasanti, but then it wouldn't be would it.

Sacre bleu!

I hope the sun shines on you kiwityke.

Stacey Jones i was going to say him but then realised he doesnt officially play for them anymore, other than that it could be Monty Betham laugh.gif

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 7 2006, 11:50 AM

That's the third piece of the coconut jigsaw in place then EagleBlade.
Stacey Jones you say? probably the most famous chin in New Zealand Rugby League?

That's right!

So the the pieces are:

Hair - Matt King

Eyes and Nose - Anthony Minichiello

Mouth and Chin - Stacey Jones

Put them together and you've got this smart guy:

Here's your first coconut then EagleBlade, congratulations, I hope you enjoy it!
Well done to Thurston and Kiwityke who got most of it.

Here's another trio of facial features:

Who are the three NRL players who spawned this good looking brute?

Good luck.

Posted by: EAGLEBLADE Jan 8 2006, 07:34 PM

Andrew johns,Thurston and Ashley Harrison
love the Eagleblade badge thinking about having that as my avator quality!!!

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 9 2006, 09:08 AM

Glad you liked your prize.
I could do you the logo a bit smaller on it's own if you like - without the coconut butfiddling with the two logos.

The trouble was I couldn't find a decent quality eagles logo of any size. The best one was much smaller than the Blades ones. Still the Eagles one might be fine as a small avatar eg the size of nrla05's.

Right on to the comp:

Just one out of three there -

Andrew Johns' hair. I thought that would be the hardest part as hairstyles change, all the same I guess it does define a Joey headshape.

You are in the right team with Johnathan Thurston, but it's not him.

It's not Ashley Harrison, the terrific player with a three year contract at Roosters.

A good start then.

Posted by: shadow grinder Jan 13 2006, 01:04 AM

johns, slater, williams?

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 13 2006, 01:42 PM

Well done there sg -

You've got all three.

I thought you'd get Billy 'the whizz' Slater.
His chin is quite distinctive, though it's more the photo I've used and how I blended it in that exaggerates it.
Although it's a hairstyle from a while ago it's still quite clearly Andrew Johns.

Well done then for getting the Cowboy - Ty Williams, a great player IMO.

Just think if this guy I've made up was a new signing for Storm - a blend of Andrew Johns, Ty Williams and Billy Slater -what a worldbeater he'd be!

Here's the prize everybody wants then:

Enjoy!

Here's the original photo I used to make superbloke:

Joey

Cowboy Ty

Billy Whizz - better for not touring - a good season will follow!

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 13 2006, 03:55 PM

Here's another three in one chap -

Posted by: EAGLEBLADE Jan 14 2006, 08:13 AM

WILLIE MASON AND BENJI MARSHALL

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 14 2006, 09:30 AM

Trent Barrett?

...

Yes indeedy!

Trent Barrett.(Hair and ear)

I mirrored him so his photo fitted the other photos.

No it's not Willie Mason or Benji Marshall (you were very close there with Benji).

The clue in the question was that all three bits are parts of well known half backs.

Two players left to get -

- the squinting eyes and nose

- the mouth, chin arm etc kissing that rather nice winner's medal.

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 14 2006, 11:58 PM

Chin and medal. Scott Prince?

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 15 2006, 02:25 PM

Welcome back, kiwityke, I hope you had a good holiday.
I hope the weather was kind to you, and the bugs didn't bite.

Scott Prince you say?

Yes, he's the mouth, chin, medal etc.

This is the picture I put the other parts to:

Wests Tigers' Scott Prince at the end of last season's Grand Final with his winner's medal.

We've just one more to find now:

the half back with the nose and squinting eyes!

I'll see if I can give you a bit more to go at shortly.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 16 2006, 09:20 AM

Matt Orford you say?

Well...

...

That's correct it's the Ox! Well done.

Here's the picture I took his features from - he was sharing a joke with Joey.

Here's your prize for Trent Barrett and Matt Orford:

Here's kiwityke's for getting Scott Prince right:

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 16 2006, 10:13 AM

WINGER(S)

Three become one again here to combine pace, power and experience into one super winger.

So all three are wingers and all three will be NRL players this season.

-body and head shape/hair

- eyes and nose

-mouth chin and neck

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 16 2006, 06:48 PM

Carney is one

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 17 2006, 11:00 AM

That's right!

Carney here in his Wigan jersey is the body head shape and hair. I hope he does well for Knights in the season ahead.

The eyes belong to a Kiwi, the chin to an Aussie.

One's a Dog the other is a Stormer.

Here's the brute of a winger again to save you having to hunt backwards:

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 17 2006, 10:32 PM

Matt Utai or Jake Webster

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 18 2006, 12:40 PM

You are getting there kiwityke.
One of those two is right:

Matt Utai?

Yes the eyes and most of the nose are his.

Jake Webster?

No it's another of his Storm team-mates who provides the mouth chin and neck.

So that's two out of three so far. Well done, especially with Matt Utai - there wasn't a lot to go on there.

Here's the photo of Matt I used:

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 18 2006, 05:18 PM

Must be Matt Geyer.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 18 2006, 05:49 PM

Must it?

Matt Geyer you say?

Are you sure?

...

erm ...

OK...

You're right! biggrin.gif

It is Matt Geyer.

Here's the picture of Matt I used for the chin and neck:

What a great bloke he is.

What a strong winger the trio man would make!
Three correct there, kiwityke.
Here's your prizes!!!

What a lovely bunch of coconuts you've got! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 18 2006, 06:37 PM

Here's a quite convincing looking bloke until you look closer and spot that it's three NRL players who are all centres.

Which three players make this good looking guy up?

- the top of the head and ears

- the bottom of the head, neck, upper torso

- the cheeks eyes and nose.

OK I know it is relatively small but the detail is reasonably clear.

If he existed I'd sign him up er ... yesterday.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 18 2006, 06:48 PM

Question:

Who's the only player to play more premiership matches than Brad Fittler in the Aussie game?
It includes finals.

The brilliant Brad Fittler played in 336 matches - who beat him?

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 18 2006, 07:21 PM

Wild guess. Wally Lewis

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 18 2006, 08:26 PM

No, it's not Wally.
This bloke played the majority of his career at Canterbury.

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 19 2006, 01:38 AM

Terry Lamb - 387

Terry Lamb it is, kiwityke!

I had Brad Fittler down as 336 and Terry lamb down as 349 premiership games including finals - your figure must include other fixtures.

Just picked this off my coconut tree, it's yours:

Hi sg

Timana Tahu

Yes, the eyes have it!
Well done getting the Eels star centre. Yes, centre not wing Mr Hagan!

The other two centres both wear the jersey in the picture ... oh and they are goooooood!

Your coconut:

Terry Lamb

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 19 2006, 06:37 PM

With that jersey must be the Cooper / Gasnier duo. Musn't it?

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 20 2006, 09:43 AM

As you say kiwityke, it had to be the Dragons and Australia pair of centres

Mark Gasnier

Mark was the top half of my creation.

Matt Cooper

Who provided the lower section.

With Tahu's eyes and nose that completes that trio and produces a terrific cente.
Here's my original trio picture:

SuperCentre!

Well done there.

Here's your 'nuts:

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 20 2006, 01:20 PM

Now here's a pretty special hooker.

1. Top of head, forehead and ear to the right

2. Eyebrows, eyes and nose

3 Mouth, chin, neck and chest

Which three hookers make up superhooker?

Question 2

Which club holds the record for most tries scored in a season? How many tries were scored by them in that season?

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 21 2006, 03:34 AM

I didn't know that there were any hookers in RL these days. Whe was the last time you saw a hooker hook?? In the scrum the all is always behind them if it is their feed. Out of reach if the opposition feed. rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 21 2006, 10:06 AM

Rules are rules until they change them, eh?
The way scrums are fed now is comical. All the same it gets us away from those tricky dicky scrum halves, usually playing for the opposition, who used to somehow pull the wool over the ref's eyes and get away with feeding while our scrum half would be penalised whatever he did! Ah, happy days!

The three blokes making up superhooker are still given that team name, even if it's more of an honorary title these days rather than a description of what they do.

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 23 2006, 07:40 AM

Top could be Cameron Smith. No idea who the others are. Kevin Walters?

The top could be Cam Smith ...

and ...

would you Adam an' Eve it ...

... it is Cameron.

Well done there.

Here's superhooker's hair and right ear provider then:

Cameron Smith, Melbourne Storm

Now the other suggestion:

Kevin Walters?

...the Broncos' legend who want to be considered for the Knights coaching job?

... erm ...

No, it's not him.

Clues:

-Everything from the mouth down is a chap who wears red and blue... blue... and green & gold.

-tipped to wear the green and gold -he's been honoured by the United Australian Lebanese Movement (UALM) for his outstanding efforts on and off the field in 2005.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 23 2006, 09:42 AM

Here's your Monday treat then for getting Caron Smith right,

Yes, it's coconut time!

Here's superhooker again.

So now we just need

-eyes nose and cheeks hooker

and

-mouth chin neck and chest hooker.

here's the clues again:

Clues:

-Everything from the mouth down is a chap who wears red and blue... blue... and green & gold.

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 23 2006, 06:10 PM

Middle guy is Robbie Farah of West Tigers then.

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 23 2006, 06:35 PM

Your clues point to Danny Buderus but it doesn't look like him.

Your confidence is well placed, kiwityke:

It is the ever improving Robbie Farah - the guy in the middle is tipped to wear the green and gold -he's been honoured by the United Australian Lebanese Movement (UALM) for his outstanding efforts on and off the field in 2005.

Here's your Robbie Farah coconut then:

The only hooker left to get of the three - Everything from the mouth down is a chap who wears red and blue... blue... and green & gold.
He doesn't wear all those colours at once of course! but to wear the last two he must be a pretty well known aussie.

He's everything in my collage mouth and south of the mouth.

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 23 2006, 07:23 PM

He's wearing a strange shirt!!

You didn't reply to my Danny Buderus comment. Presumably I was wrong. sad.gif

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 23 2006, 08:13 PM

Ah! I didn't see that posting for some reason - it must have been there but I suppose I saw your first post about Robbie Farah and decided to answer it.
So your suggestion:

Danny Buderus?

You mean the bloke who's re-signed for Knights, plays for NSW and Australia - well he pushes all the right buttons ... and ...

You're not wrong! biggrin.gif

The third hooker in my picture is Danny Buderus.

The shirt is just a teeshirt - he was in civvies when the picture was taken.
Here's his full picture I used:

Here's your hard cased prize:

Well done there.

New name game picture tomorrow.
It's after 8.00pm and time for a constitutional walk - some fresh winter air is called for! Brrrrrr!!!

Question 2

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 24 2006, 09:42 AM

Here as promised is the next Fame Name bloke.

Who is this puzzling Prop?

He's made from three prop forwards playing in the NRL

The three blokes are from three different clubs.

Prop 1 - Hair, forehead and ears

Prop 2 - Eyes, nose and cheeks

Prop 3 - Mouth, chin, neck and jersey

Good luck

Mitchell Sargeant eh?

Yes, that white blond hair is a give away, well spotted

Mitchel Sargeant, North Queensland Cowboys Prop

...and another one:

I really rated Mitchell when he was at Storm and was really disappointed when he left and moved to Cowboys. He's such a powerful bloke that stood out on the field for me.

"The middle on is distorted"

You don't yet know how right you are. laugh.gif

He only looks distorted because the picture I had of him that was big enough had him looking to the right.
I was going to straighten it up - which I can, but I looked at it as it is now and thought how striking and odd it looked so I left it as it is!

As for being distorted - well he's not everybody's favourite. He's done a few odd things.

In fact looking at the superprop again even I find it difficult to recognise him even though he's exactly like that.

The other two parts are almost the opposite of him and make it hard to recognise him. This Dog's middle name should probably be 'Sorry' biggrin.gif

Clue for chin etc:

This Aussie international has announced that 2006 will be his last season.

Willie Mason.

SUPERLOCK

This name game picture is a 'superlock' I've created.

I've used parts of three locks who play in the NRL.

Here's superlock then:

Which three locks make up this picture?

- Hair forehead and ears

- Eyes and nose

- Mouth chin and the rest?

Posted by: kiwityke Jan 27 2006, 11:14 PM

Bottom third - Dallas Johnson

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Jan 28 2006, 09:19 AM

So, Dallas Johnson of the mighty Melbourne Storm?

The unshaven chin?

Yes, he's the chinlock.

You did really well there with not much to go on.

Here's the picture of Dallas I used:

mmm, pineapple or coconut? - with Dallas' chin unshaven like that it ought to be a coconut, but seeing as how you've a cupboard full of them here's what you get:

Hi Kiwityke, glad you're still with us.
It's gone a bit quiet I must say.

Right, so far the you got Dallas Johnson as the chin.

Here's some clues for the other two gents:

Forehead hair and ear:
- He's one of three Panthers selected for the recent Kangaroo camp at Bondi.

Eyes and nose
- Probably the hardest to get as he's got such regular features, this ex Bunny is moving into Luke Ricketson's boots in 2006, ****-a-doodle-doo!

I think it's pretty straightforward.

I just had great fun (sad really) playing with the image.

Posted by: kiwityke Feb 3 2006, 12:12 AM

Big Mal Meninga?

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Feb 3 2006, 09:43 AM

No, it's not Big Mal.

You'll laugh when you find out who it is! biggrin.gif

Posted by: kiwityke Feb 3 2006, 09:03 PM

Bluey Blue Eyes McLennan.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Feb 4 2006, 05:47 PM

No it's not Bluey McLennan either.

So it's time to give a clue.

It's hard to give a clue without making his identity obvious. How about this then:

When the team he played for recorded their first Premiership win in over twenty years he had a crucial role. His impact was so immense that when captain Brad Fitler was interviewed in the stadium after the game the only player he singled out for specific praise was him.

Posted by: kiwityke Feb 5 2006, 03:58 AM

Was this one for NL Addict then?
Mozza

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Feb 5 2006, 10:43 AM

Mozza?

Mr Adrian 'Salford' Morley who actually hails from Eccles?

The chap with more medals than a war veteran?

Wherever he goes trophies follow?

Is that who you think it is?

How could strong and dashing looking Mozza be that devilish looking creature in my picture?

It's just a ridiculous suggestion...

ridiculous ...

but...

TRUE!

Yes it's Mozza, and it was great fun to 'redesign' him.
Here's the original photograph I worked with:

2. Eyes and nose

3. Mouth, chin and all points south?

All three are NRL second row players.

Posted by: Graham Las Darrington Feb 10 2006, 09:44 AM

Hi EagleBlade,
I notice in passing that your avatar - at least on my computer - has disappeared it's now blank with a red cross in it.
There seems to be a problem with some people's avatars that are I think hosted with this forum.
I think you hosted yours with the forum - that link has broken down.

I'll hunt it out again and check it for size - there are limits to what's allowed.
If it's too big in any way I'll try to reduce it to what's allowed without spoiling it, and then I'll post it here again. You might then just want to enter it using the URL it already has so that you link to it through my host.

It may take me an hour or two to get on to it as I've been colared for supermarket duty!

Oh and by the way sadly it's not Naughty Nigel Vagana in the star player picture.

Right I've checked the avatar and it should be all right for size, how about just linking straight to it as it is EB keeping the URL the same. Just enter it into the box which says : "Enter a URL to an online avatar image" - it's the one with the word 'Restore' to the right of it.

Yer t'is again:

If there's still a problem I'm sure we can work it out.

Now on to your suggestion sg.

You seemed to think it wasn't NV as you made another offer:

Wiki ... Ruben ...

As to whether its Ruben Wiki ...

well there's only one answer ...

and that's ...

...

Quite right!

Ex Raider, Warrior, Kiwi, Wiki - he of the 'solid' tackle.
